School ID (institution identifier)
Email or username
Password (handled securely; we do not store your password in plain text on your device)

Data stored on your device (local only)

Session identifier (to keep you logged in)
Your user ID, display name, and email (after successful login)
Teacher notes you create for students (stored only on your device; not sent to our servers)

Data we receive from your use of the App

Requests to our servers (e.g. classes, attendance, students, exams, marks) when you use the App. These may include your session ID, school context, and the data necessary to perform the action (e.g. marks you submit).

2. How We Use Your Information

To authenticate you and provide access to the teacher portal
To load and display your assigned classes, students, attendance, exams, and marks
To save marks and other data you submit through the App to our backend services
To maintain your session so you do not have to log in repeatedly

Teacher notes you write for students are stored only on your device and are not uploaded to our servers.

3. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We may share or disclose information only:

With your school or institution (as part of the educational service)
When required by law or to protect our rights, safety, or property
With service providers that help us operate our backend (e.g. hosting). Such providers are bound by confidentiality and security obligations.

We use industry-standard measures to protect data in transit (e.g. HTTPS) and on our servers. Session and account data on your device are stored using the platform’s secure storage (e.g. Android secure storage). You are responsible for keeping your device and login credentials secure.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account and usage data as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service and comply with legal obligations. Local data on your device (including teacher notes) remains until you uninstall the App or clear app data.

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

The App is intended for use by teachers and school staff. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through this App. Student-related data (e.g. names, roll numbers, marks) is processed on behalf of your institution for educational purposes.

8. Third-Party Services

The App communicates with our own backend services (e.g. at ownza.org). The App may use Google Play services for distribution and updates. Use of the App is subject to Google Play’s terms and policies where applicable.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will be revised when we do. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. For material changes, we may notify you via the App or your contact details where appropriate.
